Ikea Wardrobe

For the disgruntled blog reader who couldn't fathom a house without a built-in closet in the bedroom, this is what we purchased yesterday. It's a 5' wide, 7'9" tall wardrobe from Ikea, which can be completely customized with drawers, shoe racks, shelving, etc.
Along with the wardrobe, we also came home with the cabinetry for the boy's bathroom, all the hardware for the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, and all sorts of odds and ends - from towel racks to toilet paper holders.

Perhaps not so much disgruntled as realistic and practical.

While this kind of Ikea cabinet may be common in Europe, most closets here are built-in and larger.

and what makes you think that we are fond of the american esthetic?! the reason we are blogging this process is to expose a different way of thinking about building a home. you don't have to do what "most" people do if you don't want to...and bigger is definately NOT better.

this blog has been set up mainly to keep our friends and family up to date on our progress. if you would like to leave a comment...especially a criticism (which we are NOT seeking)..at least have the courage to leave your name and contact information with it. thank you.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have had nothing but trouble with Blogger and registering. It has not "held" my registration (remembered it) despite numerous tries at various blogs and much correspondence with Blogger.

And I am no novice computer/internet user! Many bloggers have had this problem, I have been told, so perhaps that is why people post anonymously. Is it safe to leave a screen name in one of these posts? I don't know, to be honest....
